Curriculum Vitae

My research interests are focused mainly on online community networks evolution and innovation diffusion processes on such networks. I've studied an online role playing gamers' forum, trying to model the diffusion of a new game inside the community, and the role that opinion leaders (targeted as core elements of network) can play on decision making processes. The decision to study this phenomenon arose from a statistical observation: each time a new game were released, a tidal effect could be seen in the subscription charts. I've used SNA to formalize the relational aspect of this social phenomenon, because SNA is a powerful tool that can discover patterns even in very huge and complex social structure. I've then used ABM because I believe this method is of paramount importance in order to better understand actors' agency in dynamic contexts. Analytical sociology became the theoretical framework that glued together those methods with mechanisms, producing an evolutionary network model with diffusion processes operating between nodes.

I've successfully defended my PhD Thesis on May 2009. I am now working on similar topics at the Panmind Research Centre.
